April 2012
Howdy all! I hope you are well.
I wanted to radar-boost my photographer friend, Lydia’s project! She’s doing a self portrait project that I can’t even accurately represent in my own words, so here’s the description from the lady herself:
“Pictures Of Lydia is an archival project consisting of hundreds of portraits of one young woman, Lydia Billings. Each day, as Lydia goes about her normal activities, she pauses to ask each person with whom she interacts to take a photo of her. This project began a little over 3 months ago, and has so far accumulated a collection exceeding 500 photographs.
The purpose of the project is not to document Lydia, her personality, or specific traits, but is largely an attempt to document the vast amount of interactions one person (and by association, each of us) has on a daily basis.
Pictures of Lydia speaks about communication, physical and personal compromise and choreography, and a portrayal of human interaction at its most basic level.
By stitching together individualized perceptions of a singular figure, we can begin to construct a communal understanding of perceived identity, variability, and thus inherently, a lack of each.”

It is a really cool project, so all your photo majors and non-photo people should definitely give it a look. I’ve even taken a picture or two in the collection!
Thanks folks!!
